Report of Iranian NDT Night

The “6th IRNDT members gathering” and the “NDT Night Celebration” was jointly held by IRNDT and IRSNT on June 15, 2015 to celebrate the full membership of IRNDT as the official representative of the Iranian NDT community in the International Committee for Nondestructive Testing (ICNDT). The venue was the auditorium of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering of University of Tehran and the event was sponsored by ten member companies.

More than 200 people attended this event and the sponsoring companies had a chance to exhibit their products and services in a small exhibition area outside the meeting room.

The program started at 6:00 p.m. with three welcome messages by Dr. Raygan, the Dean of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Prof. Honarvar, the IRNDT President, and Mr. Moeini, the IRSNT president.

In his speech, Prof. Honarvar presented a short report on IRNDT activities and thanked the support of IRSNT and all other organizations who had supported IRNDT’s application for full membership at ICNDT. He also thanked ICNDT membership committee and in particular Dr. Mike Farley, the president of ICNDT, for their efforts in careful review of IRNDT’s application and their positive attitude during the time of assessment of the application.

The next speaker was Mr. Naser Rastkhah, the Head of the Iranian Safety Regulatory Center who presented his speech on implementation of online casino the EN ISO 9712 standard in Iran.

Dr. Farshid Malek, the head of the Materials Engineering Department of Tarbiat Modarres University and one of the founding members of IRNDT was the next speaker who talked about the “Role of NDT in successful management of EPC Projects”.

In the short break following Dr. Malek’s talk, the participants had a chance to mingle together and meet other IRNDT and IRSNT members.

A live Persian music performance was presented by a group of young Iranian musicians after the break.

The meeting continued with another talk by Mr. Yousefinia, one of Level III members of IRNDT and IRSNT, on the topic of inspection of pressure vessels.

The last part of the meeting was a panel discussion with the presence of representatives from IRNDT and IRSNT. In this part of the program, the participants found a chance to give their comments and ask questions about the activities of the two societies and make suggestions for future tasks that the two societies can consider. Some of the topics discussed in the panel were: development of new NDT technologies and services, closer cooperation of the societies with government organizations, current concerns of the NDT community, upcoming Iranian NDT conference, publications, membership and cooperation of the two societies.

After the panel discussion, participants were invited to have the dinner at the restaurant of the University of Tehran. The event concluded at 10:30 p.m.
